Hi,
I have an acer laptop with GM45 intel graphics card. My widgets are not showing up. Some are invisible and some are black squares. And I also think that the graphics are a little bit slow. Do you guys think that it is a problem with the driver?? I’m totally new at linux stuff and would like some help.
Thank you all.
In a su terminal do
lspci -v
find the graphics part near the end and paste it here

Is that what you wanted?
It is what I wanted thanks:
But let me show you mine so you can see the difference:

You see the kernel driver info.
You are not showing that.
Have you tried the settings in Yast - Hardware - Graphics and Monitor
There are issues with some Intel chips, luckily I’m ok. Do some googling on it: GM45 intel graphics Linux
I’m telling graphics on linux are a FLIPING PAIN and so is wireless but apart from thst things are generaly easy best of luck and I hope you succeed
I already googled but like I said I’m totally new at Linux and couldn’t get the point of any explanation. What should I try in Yast - hardware - graphics card??
Thanks!
Looks OK
What do you get here:
http://thumbnails.imagebam.com/4778/40900d47776384.gif](http://www.imagebam.com/image/40900d47776384/)
Everything looks fine there.
So back to the widgets. Please post the result of this:

Disable the dvd #4
Change Update repo #9 to priority 99
After that start Software management
Filter by repo
select kde42
From ‘Packages’ at the top of the screen menu, select Update all in this list Unconditionally.
If you get error, use the expert button to save to file and post it here
I’m sorry but how can I make these changes?
-Disable the dvd #4
-Change Update repo #9 to priority 99
This may help a little, it where you need to be
Repository Management - openSUSE Forums
Just watch it when you click to select a repo, it toggles it on/off, so keep an eye on it

That leaves you still using the kde3 amarok and kde3 digikam
You could change digikam to kde4 version if you like, it works well, but leave amarok.
I did it. But unfortunately the widgets keep the same way. Black squares.
Should I do something else?
What does
zypper verify
report?
Black squares are often as a result of qt4 library inconsistencies. KDE 4 relies heavily on the correct versions being present.
