Problems with Mesa

Hi,

I’m using Leap 42.2 with KDE 4.9 and Kernel 4.10.6 (I need it and the newest kernel firmware for the Carbon X1 2017).
Yesterday, I installed the new Mesa version 17.0.2. When going for shutdown, the KDE said: that KDM crashed. After reboot, I was not able to go to the login screen (only console by Strg-Alt-F2).
Today, I reinstalled the system stepwise. After MESA update, I got the KDM problem and can’t login in KDE anymore.
I’m just installing the system again and will stick to Mesa coming with Leap 42.2.

Best,

Michael

Try to remove the package libglvnd0 and restart Xorg (e.g. with “rcxdm restart”). I had the same problem like you.

See https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=992029#c3 and my post “Black screen bug: dual graphics, Leap 42.2 Mesa and bumblebee updates (libglvnd0)” in opensuse@opensuse.org mailing list.

Hi Björn,

thanks for your answer and explanation!

First, I will stick to the old 10.x Mesa version (but keeping in mind what to do when upgrading).

Best,

Michael
