It’s difficult to get this right. This may help you:
I use Gnome, and I have an nVIDIA 6600 driving a 1280x1024 monitor via
DVI and a 1680x1050 TV/monitor via VGA.
I have two separate X screens, not a TwinView setup.
Both screens display during boot. Only the 1280x1024 display shows the
login manager (KDM - sic). Both screens display the Gnome desktop.
Here’s my xorg.conf - it_won’t_work_for_you_without_tweaking, but if
you go through it line-by-line comparing it with yours, it may help you
tweak your setup or understand what’s different.
