Problems with gf8600M driver

I have a problem with nvidia drivers. As long as update them via regular autoupdate everything works fine (i simply use nvidia repository). Since the latest that installs are 173.xx (some beta) I wanbted to update to 180.x and theres a problem. When i update the driver Xes stops working after reboot. It says it cant find proper module. I tried to modprobe it manualy, but still it gives me like "theres no such file, or…" even when I directly indicate it. What could I miss?

Hi,

Are you saying you installed from the Nvidia website? Or are you still using the driver from the Nvidia Repository?

If you installed from the Nvidia website you’ll need to uninstall the driver and kernel from the Nvidia community repository first.
