Problems to remove a package completely

Hi,

I’m trying to use Rhythmbox in openSuse 11.0 but, without any reasons, the software start to close suddenly.

I want to remove and install it again. I made it by YaST but the software wasn’t complete remove, because when I install it again, all my preferences was still there.

In Debian I use <package> remove --purge. The purge parameters make sure to remove everything including the preferences. How can I make this with YaST?

Thanks in advance for the support.

You need to delete the Rhythmbox hidden folder in your user hidden section. Where it is will depend on if you use kde or gnome

Well, I try to search for Rhythmbox in my home user folder and I didn’t found anything. I use Gnome.

Anyway, my only problem is that the official music player, Banshee, do not allowed me to change the order of the music in the lists. That’s really horrible. Because it’s a simple task, change the order of the musics in the playing list. That’s why I’m trying to use Rhythmbox.

Any of the solutions will be good: fix Banshee or Rhythmbox.
Perhaps another player, I just need a music player that WORKS!

You should be able to use amarok without too much difficulty.

Get it from Packman

amarok-packman
amarok-xine

But Amarok is for KDE. I will have to install a lot of dependencies just to run it.

It is not possible to delete a program with the preferencies like the command --purge for apt-get? Should be.

Do someone know where I can get a manual for YaST command-line?

Amarok need some kde libraries - because it’s a KDE application. No other way, if you are trying to compile it from source maybe you can save some space.
You can get help to any command-line program with syntax:

man <programs name>

or with

<programs name> --help

.

Well I just fix the problem in a way that nobody will know.

I enable the DAAP plugin and now its working.
This plugin is to share music in the local network and don’t have anything to do with music playlist, but I read the error report and its something with network, so by chance I enable this plugin, and its working.
Crazy…

Glad the problem’s solved, douglascaixeta.

Just for the info, you’ll find rhythmbox settings folder in ~/.gnome2 (hidden)
