I tried to open several tiff files for conversion with gimp and also tried converting directly from a terminal. The files were originally saved with Paintshop Pro in Windows. I have tried re-saving them with Paintshop using every option they have with no luck. When I open any of them with the gimp, I am prompted to choose which of two pages to open. The problem is that these images are a single page 8x10 image file. I see this as a “tiff” library problem rather than a gimp bug. Here is the output of both gimp and terminal:
