Hello everyone:
I have a problem with my wireless card. It´s a broadcom BCM43xx on a DELL Studio. Suse doesn´t recognize it. I´ve tried to install firmware with diswrapper but it didn´t work. Does anyone know how must i proceed? Thanks.
You must first determine which driver your card will work with (ndiswrapper or fwcutter). That’s done by googling and browsing this forum. You must find the solution for your exact make/model, because each Broadcom card is different. After that, just follow the stickies and you should be alright.
Unfortunately I don’t have a Broadcom wifi nic. So I can’t help you there.
As JosipBroz mentioned have a read through the sticky.

It should give you a push in the right direction.
Also this post can be useful : Welcome to the wireless section
Wishing you luck,

Actually, I’m looking at purchasing a Dell Studio 15 (if I can sort out purchasing a Dell with English manuals, keyboard, MS-Windows (for my wife)) in an non-english speaking country. But I’m looking at procuring a Studio 15 with a different wireless device.
I do not know much about wireless, but I recall, as noted by JosipBroz, you can either use ndiswrapper or fwcutter. … Some basics here (and someone please correct me if I am wrong):
- ndiswrapper is some computer code that wraps around an MS-Windows wireless driver, letting users use that wireless driver with Linux. Disadvantage is it can impact other applications/drivers (such as sound) , although sometimes it works great
- fwcutter involves loading firmware (typically proprietary provided by the manufacturer - in this case Broadcom) for the wireless device. This, if it functions, is typically the preferred method
Magic31 gave you some EXCELLENT links.
Let me know how things work out with your Dell Studio 15, not only from a wireless aspect, but also wrt all other drivers/aspects. As noted, I’m almost a “stone’s throw” away from purchasing one.

Use the ‘/sbin/lspci -nnv’, locate the lines that describe your BCM43xx, and
post them.
There are a lot of BCM43xx models - some supported, some not. ntil we know
exactly what you have, it is impossible to tell you what to do.
As you installed the firmware anbd the device was not recognized, I think yours
is one that is not supported by the Linux native driver. If that is true, you
can either use the Broadcom wl hybrid driver, or ndiswrapper with the Windows
driver. To my thinking, neither solution is desirable.
