Questions:

  • Where/how do I enter the key-value for WPA2 ?
  • I assume that I will have to disconnect the Ethernet cable from eth1. At which stage of the proceedings?
  • Where do I find KDE NetworkManager and its representation on the desktop?
  • Other questions that I am too ignorant to think of?

Thanks !

Hi,

Go to Yast > Network settings > Network setup method > and change to user controlled with network manager.

This will enable the KDE network manager.

@Dragon32: Thank you for your help.
On your suggestion I changed from ifup to network manager.
Then it took a lot of time to find the KDE widget.
Then I found that my AP needed to know the MAC of the Linksys adapter - so I entered it.
I have re-checked the WPA2 code through the user interface of my AP.

Then rebooting with ethernetcable disconnected.
Then messages from network manager:

  1. waiting for authorization
after typing in the WPA access code:
  2. configuring interface
then back to "waiting for authorization.

Apparently, the connection can not be established.
Any additional advice would be most welcome.
Thanks !

PS. Sorry for this late reaction: I spent lots of time trying to find out things.
