Problems Initializing package manager during Installation

Hey, kind of new to Linux and OpenSUSE, so for any responses, please be clear and detailed.

So, I’m trying to install OpenSUSE 11.0 from the DVD. I checked the MD5 SUM on the iso file and that matched up. After inserting the DVD for installation, I checked the DVD for errors there and it passed. During the installation process, everything is going fine until it gets to the Initializing package manager step. A window suddenly pops up asking me for the repositories. I just click ok, then an error message pops up saying:

Unable to create repository from URL ‘cd:///?devices=/dev/sr0’. Valid metadata not found at specified URL

I’m guessing i just need a URL for the repository, but I’m not sure which one or how to enter it. Any help would be great. I’ve used OpenSUSE 10.3 and really liked it, would love to try 11.0.

Some computer specs: Dual-booting on Vaio laptop with Windows XP SP3, 1GB RAM, Pentium M 1.73GHz, NVIDIA GeForce card.

Let me know if more details are necessary and thanks in advance!

The only repository that has CD in its URL will be on your machine; that suggests a problem detecting your CD. The repositories it needs are mostly on the net and, in practice, if there is a problem with your machine, as long as it can access the repositories on the net, it should be able to complete the installation; it will just take longer because it will in effect be downloading everything instead of taking the core files from the DVD.

Whether that option is built into the installer, I don’t know but I would risk clicking on Continue if that option is offered.

Thanks for the quick response. I’ve been having problems with my DVD drive recently, so its probably related to that. I had to burn the OpenSUSE DVD on my girlfriends computer. Its weird, it works fine watching DVDs and burning CD’s, but sometimes it has issues recognizing DVDs. I ended up just installing from the GNOME Live CD, and I’m all up and running now. Definitely a huge step up from 10.3, especially with installing software and YaST in general. Thanks again!
