problems burning iso

Hello World,

I am having trouble burning SuSE to dvd and booting from dvd. I have a laptop with Windows 7 that contains a multi-format drive (cd/cdrw/dvd/dvdrw.) I use the Toshiba disc creator software to burn an image and I have also tried burning with InfraRecorder and Windows 7 native image burning. I am trying to burn the 12.1 dvd to a dvd+rw and I have tried a DVD-RW disc. I wish to, then, install from this dvd onto my windows xp desktop. Everytime that I burn a disc, the xp pc responds that there is no disc in the drive. What I am doing wrong? I did not know that dvd burning requires a degree. I am frustrated. I once tried Linux Mandrake but I bought the discs at a retailer. I’ve tried Ubuntu but the idiots expect everyone to have a perfect internet connection for downloading packages from a so-called repository. I do not have a stable connection. I wanted to try SuSE because it has all of the packages that I want but I cannot get it to burn so that my xp can read the disc. Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated.

by the way, i do not see a “disc-at-once” option using the openSuSE suggested InfraRecorder software. I chose “Session-at-once.”

Thanks for reading. Have a great day.

I understand your logical frustration, but if Windows software can not burn
a plain ISO, there is little we can do from the Linux side. Just, in case
you ask in a windows forum, say you are burning seatools cd or some other
windows thing

The only thing it occurs to me is try write once dvd media.

Don’t you have Nero? It is a good burning program.

Are you sure you have a good download? Check the checksums. Instruction on the download page

smug windows-hating poster’s nescient comments aside, I have discovered that my dvd drive is not able to write. I suppose that I’ll try a usb stick instead of replacing the drive.

Thank you Omnipen. I had decided to go with Ubuntu and download from the repository instead. I will add Debian and OpenSUSE when I get around to buying a usb stick. I hope that you have a great day.

By the way, PowerISO is a much better tool for burning than the overpriced nero.

What are you refering to? This is a Linux forum, we can not help you with
your Windows problems, you should understand that. There is no windows
hating comment here.
