problems after update

Hi to all, After performing a clean install of opensuse 12.2 on a HP compac D5308 P4 with a 400 GB Samsung HD everything worked fine.
Then I did a system update as recommended. After this the mouse does not work correctly anymore. I can click a menu, but the mouse pointer disappears,
it is not possible to select a submenu item. I can’t click and drag a window e.g. a browser. The whole menu bar with the kde control center disappear after the first mouse actions. Terminals ( standard and su terminal) can be opened only in full screen mode.

I installed some additional programs like clementine, opera, backup, yafc - this had no effect on the mentioned problems.

is there a way to repair the installation ? There are 4 distros side by side and redoing the whole process would be very time-consuming.

Thanks a lot !

Marc

Just a guess, you may have a graphics driver problem. Maybe a Desktop config problem(if a brand new install, might just wipe out the Desktop profile and allow re-build).

In any case, sounds like you will likely want to boot into either emergency mode or maybe icewm instead of your normal environment to perform repairs.

(Plenty of other posts in these forums for both the specific GPU in your system and boot options)
