I have downloaded the rpm file and saved in a folder. When I right click and go to “install with yast”, yast initialises and then tries to download it again. There must be something wrong with my settings - can anyone help
You should not download .rpms externally, but via YaST and its repositories - I suppose the one you downloaded is not compatible with your SuSE.
What application do you want to install anyway?

I downloaded scribus directly from opensuse repositry, because if I use yast the data arrives here at 300b/sec, which would mean about 4 hours download time compared to 6 minutes if I downloaded directly.
In opensuse 10.0 to 10.3, I never had a problem with right clicking on the rpm file, going to actions and then install with yast. With opensuse 11 I have a problem, which I presume is a fault with my setup. (As I don’t see any complaints from others).
So if anybody has an idea, I will be grateful for a reply
Try using zypper, it can install .rpms as well - or simply use the good old ‘rpm -Uhv [packagename.rpm]’.
Yet you should defenitely check your YaST-configuration, there seems to be something wrong. Did you ever try a different mirror?
