what is the problem???

i give him access point of the network card, but i didn’t found out how to fixed the problem with google.
i guess the problem here:

Error for wireless request “Set Nickname” (8B1C) :
SET failed on device wlan0 ; Operation not supported.
wlan0 (DHCP) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . no IP address yet… backgrounding.
interface wlan0 is not up waiting

nope that isn’t the problem. It is either:

a ) the router/modem is not giving out an ip quick enough
b ) you haven’t set the device up properly in YaST
c ) you need to check the security ( if any ) is set correctly

Andy

ok i read what you wrote and i here is my answer.
about a, i connected from the windows without any problem with the wireless network. i am writing this message from the new pc so the router is ok.
i can use any network i want. i got two wireless networks, there both work fine with the windows. the network with wpa2-aes encryption and the second network with the non encryption.

about b and c, i hope this log will help you or anyone else understood the problem so i finally could use the linux on my new pc with the internet and won’t need the windows any more.

“SIEMENS-6826E1” is a wireless network non encryption.
i tried first with non encryption network and then the encryption some result in both cases.
as you can see in the log the ap of wireless card has given but the linux ignore her. i checked in the yast 2 and it’s a right ap of the wireless netcard.

the ndiswrapper loaded at the startup time.

so what is the problem??? and how can i finally connected the linux to the internet?

Esto es lo que me arrojaba:(.

Asi que como root ejecute

linux-server:~ # install_bcm43xx_firmware

Reinicie la tarjeta wlan0 y todo de lujo!lol!

Algo mas, segun mi lspci mi tarjete es:

03:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM94311MCG wlan mini-PCI (rev 01)

Mi laptop es una Compaq presario V6000, asi todo aquel que tenga este problema solo debe de ejecutar ese comando y ya, por cierto tengo openSUSE11.0 y esta chevere!rotfl!

I’m having another problem with wireless networking, so I guess I’ll write about it here in this topic :expressionless:

I got a router flashed with DD-WRT firmware, and set to wireless security mode called “WPA2 Personal / TKIP”.
Now I can’t get my openSUSE 11 notebook to connect to wireless network: I can’t find this security mode anywhere in the system :\

Can someone point me in the right direction?
