Problem with VLC, Question about Ktorrent

Good afternoon to everybody,

I had installed VLC at SUSE 11.2. After the upgrade to 11.3 VLC cannot play any type of video. I recieve a message that says that VLC does not support this format and i cannot do anything about that. I tried to reinstall VLC but nothing changed. In some cases it plays only the sound. The only solution was to install SMPlayer.
I would like some advise to fix the problem.

I have a also a question about ktorrent:
When it runs and downloads, the hole system becomes very very slow. Why that? It problem of Ktorrent or something else?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Read and follow this carefully
Multi-media and Restricted Format Installation Guide

If these that you sow to me are in Restricted formats/11.3 - openSUSE Community Wiki then i have already istalled them.
Are the above the same?

Great News!

Regarding ktorrent, it will run slow if you don’t open the two ports for ktorrent in SuseFirewall. If you have not changed the defaults, those ports are udp 4444 and TCP 6881. This is fairly straightforward. GoTo the Firewall Allowed Services module (at Yast → Security and Users → Firewall → Allowed Services). Select the Advanced button: add 6881 to the TCP entries and 4444 to the UDP entries. These are space separated lists so if there are other entries already, separate the new ones from them using space/s.

More on that here: Ktorrent and openSUSE/Suse: router, port forwarding, firewall, Torrent
