I can’t see DVD videos using Totem. I tried to use VLC and the video works, but the audio doesn’t. Maybe is the AC3 codec not installed? How can I install it?

A simple test to see if your sound works, is to open a konsole or xterm, and type (it may be easier to copy and paste this into your konsole/xterm):
speaker-test -Dplug:front -c2 -l5 -twavNote linux is case sensitive.
You should hear a ladies voice saying “front left” “front right” 5 times. If you hear that, then your audio is generally working, and then its possible you have a codec or application problem.
Solved.
The problem was just the conflict within Firefox and media players :shame:
