Problem with USB Memorystick

OpenSUSE have as long as i can recall no problems with detecting and mounting USB memorysticks, but now with OpenSUSE 11.3 64bits i have problems.
It works most of the time, but suddenly it stop detecting a memorystick being plugged in. I connect but nothing happens. At this time i can plug in any memorystick and it want detect it.

Then i need to reboot to get it to work and then after avail it stop working again.

I also have problems with unmounting (Safely remove device) in the GUI-tool. It works in terminal with “umount”. In Dolphin i get error about problem accessing HAL or something like that. This problem is resisting even after reboot.

Is there a bug?

OpenSUSE 11.3 64bits
KDE 4.4.4 (Release 3)

So, I have not see this problem on my setup but I am not constantly plugging in memory sticks. What kernel version are you using right now? Since I see you are not a newbie, are you interested in upgrading to the kernel version 2.6.36 to see if that helps in any way. Look at the script called sakc here:

S.A.K.C - SuSE Automated Kernel Compiler

It is suggested that you open YaST / Software Management / View - Patterns and select Development for Base, Kernel and / C/C++ before running the script.

sakc maintains your old kernel version, but if you are loading the ATI or nVidia proprietary video drivers, they must be reloaded into this new kernel and for nVidia, it requires the most recent driver release.

If you have already loaded or tried this kernel, then this would not be the problem.

Thank You,
