Problem with .rar files

Hello, I have soem.rar files. I downloaded the first one. Doucble clicked, extracted, works fine. I downloaded the second, it will not open. Well, when I click on it, it opens file roller, but then dispays no file :\

I can’t think why, and i have tried some other .rar files, so it wasnt a duff one. The first one worked though.

i am by the way a noob.

Are these single .rar-files or are they parts of one huge file? Are they password-protected?

To understand your problem we probably would need the output of a command-line (error messages etc.), so please try extracting the .rars via a console like this:

  1. Open a console
  2. Type the following command:
unrar x /home/milojb/yourfile.rar

Adjust the path to your actual path to the .rar-file. Wether it will work or not, unrar will give you an output which hopefully gives us a clue. Copy it and paste it here.

I hadn’t downloaded the next .rar file, which was needed to make the other one work.
