hi guys
I am using opensuse 12.2 in our clients and windows server 2008 in our server and from clients we connect to server with freerdp.we connect hp deskjet printers to clients and share them to server through Samba.after adding the printer in the server I am able to print text images except pdf files in the remote session.can anyone help me regarding this pdf issue.
Have you uploaded the relevant printer drivers to Windows?
yes I have installed the exact drivers and I am able to print text word and images but not pdf files

I don’t understand the setup.
You do not clearly say if the printer is connected to a Windows machine
or a Linux machine. Then I also do not clearly know what machine is
issuing the print job, Linux or Windows, and what applications are used
for that.

Windows can handle printing via IPP, have you tried to connect the
windows server via IPP to the linux client printers to rule out that it
is a glitch in your samba settings?

Here is an example for Windows 7 (it is very similar for other windows
versions)
http://superuser.com/questions/300986/ipp-printing-from-windows-7-ultimate
look at the answer to the question.
The essential part on linux is to go into CUPS (localhost:631 in the
Browser, e.g. Firefox) and share the printer. I have it not in front of
me it is some checkbox like “allow network printing” or similar.
At least port 631 has to be made available to the outside world in the
openSUSE firewall of course.
It was quite some time ago I used it myself but it even worked with
Windows XP and saved me setting up samba just for that.

I will get back to you after trying this
Yes I have added a printer in windows through http://ip-address/printers/printename but still unable to print pdf files.

Ok, that shows at least it is not a samba problem, but something deeper.
Does it matter with which program you try to print the pdf’s?

I don’t think so because I am able to print them locally but not in the RDP session but the thing is pdf printing works fine in HP thin clients with linux

I am afraid now that I am even more confused about how your systems are
set up, but have you looked at that
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserverTS/thread/9d7294dc-6c2a-45f1-9568-0d0688444997/
you may have a similar policy in place which affects printing larger
jobs via the rdp session.
After all it does not sound like a linux problem, but a problem what
security policies you have setup on your windows server.

The setup is simple. We have Opensuse systems and HP Linux based thin clients and 2 Windows 2008 servers. We connect to Servers through the cleints i.e through Opensuse and thin clients using freerdp protocol. We connect the printers to the clients and share them to windows server through samba and add them in the server so that everybody will be able to take the print in the remote session
I can’t help directly, but I doubt that this issue is openSUSE-specific. I recommend you try obtaining support from here:
HP Linux Imaging and Printing
Also after reading the article you provided They are unable to print even the text documents but my problem is I am unable to print pdf files only.Any how I will do those changes in the server and will get back to you.

fair enough, I saw that the article tries to solve that nothing can be
printed, still I think it is worth to investigate if some policy on the
server is the culprit.
One other thing is you never mentioned if you can see the print job
arriving in CUPS on the client after you started a print of a pdf on the
server in the rdp session. That would give a minimal info at which level
it fails, does it fail already that the print job does not even arrive
on the clients CUPS or doe it arrive and due to some reason is not
accepted or stopped or fails to print.
If the print job for the pdf ends up on the client CUPS then
investigating the logs there (or maybe even some info in the CUPS web
interface) could give some useful info.

No when I try to print pdf files in RDP session it show that it is sending to spooler and disappears immediately and I don’t think it is sending to cups.Nothing is there in the log files regarding pdf files.

Don’t assume, just look inside the cups logs. Both client and server if
there are such.

If the document prints fine it shows that print is completed but no error in the log files eventhough pdf files are not printed.
