Problem with music players.

Hello,

I installed 13.2 and followed the directions and used dup to “upgrade” to tumbleweed.

My specs (if it matters):
i7-4810
Kingston M-sata 60GB as / with BTRFS
Plextor 512GB SSD as /home ext4
Ram, dvd and such (laptop, system76)

I got all setup. My bookmarks and such. Transfered all my mp3 files over to /home with no issue. Launch Amarok and instant crash. In order to file a bug report it wants me to add some repository from 13.2, this is probably a no no and I passed. So, I remove Amarok and install a couple players, they all fail to find mp3 support (and it is installed). The only player working is Juk and it is not my cup of tea. Is there any fixes at all?

Thanks in advance.

For most codecs you need the packman repository added. After it is enabled you should zypper dup to it. Use the “from” flag to target a specific repository. After dup is finished, install missing gstreamer plugins manually. Vlc will need vlc-codecs package.

Thanks for the reply.

I was just about to give up and go back to Debian. Then, I found this:

https://forums.opensuse.org/entry.php/149-openSUSE-13-1-Multi-media-and-Restricted-Format-Installation-Guide

I used the “For kde use” and everything worked. So, although I had all the codecs for mp3 and such installed, something from that list was missing.

So now all is working and I am a happy camper :).
