Hello,
I’m trying to play movie files, .avi for instance, with totem, vlc or other players but nothing shows up, just a black window >:(. In addition, I receive a sleep warning message. Version: 11.0. How to solve this please?
Thanks,
André Luiz

Have you installed the codecs ?

Some help here: NEWBIES - Suse-11.0 Pre-installation – PLEASE READ - openSUSE Forums
As per Andy’s suggestion
you need libdvdcss from the Vidolan repo - then disable that repo
then everything else from Packman
One clicks are available, but I tend not to recommend them
Yes, I believe I have them all including win32.
you need libdvdcss from the Vidolan repo -
installed
then disable that repo
how to please? delete it from yast?
then everything else from Packman
delete the whole Packman repo?
No you can select your version and the repo it is installed from in your software manager. Just click the version tab.
You missunderstand
Disable Videolan/VLC in the repo manager
When we say ‘everything else from Packman’ - We mean everything else multi-media will be installed from Packman - You MUST KEEP Packman. Just no more packages from VLC other than libdvdcss.
Have a look at this HowTo
Multi-media and Restricted Format Installation Guide - openSUSE Forums
I don’t even bother with trying to download codecs for any of the players I just use VLC and I don’t have any problems at all , I don’t have to mess around with anything so this is my suggestion just download VLC player and use that it works great
