Problem with libstdc++

Hi guys,

I recently installed for a stuppid reason gcc-3.4.

Now I am not able to use yast at all. I tried to reinstall the newest version of gcc, but I was unsuccessfull. BTW, when I rpm the gcc-package I get the reponse “already installed”. Whenever I click on a yast link I get several error lines of this sort:

“/usr/local/lib/libstdc++.so.6: no version information available”

I can start yast, but i cannot use it.

Furthermore if I execute libstc++.so.6 I get the response: segmentation fault.

Any suggestion or idea???

tried the ncurses version of YaST ? normally works when YaST2 doesn’t. or use zypper

Andy

Thx for the response.

zypper produces the same error message.

ncurses can not be installed. the error message is

“error: can’t create transaction lock on /var/lib/rpm/__db.000”

aktashi, are u sure that you are running zypper as root or sudo?
For me “error: can’t create transaction lock on /var/lib/rpm/__db.000” looks like a permission error that you get when you run zypper as a normal user.
