The last step “Initialize package manager” downloads the information from the server and when it displays “Building repository ‘openSUSE-11.0-FTP 11.0’ cache” the system freeze.
you might try to install 10.3 first and then upgrade to 11.0.
that is what i am trying right now to resolve my problem with the blueish-white bar across the screen that i have when i try to install 11.0 on a powerpc.
your g3 is ppc correct?
i have successfully installed openSUSE 10.3 on my ibooks in the past. it seems to be going well right now but i have not run a clean reboot that was not part of the install process yet.
it is something you could try while we look for a workaround.
10.3 has successfully net installed onto my ibook g4. although i am having some problems with gstreamer effecting my sound i should resolve that shortly.
you might try to install it onto your imac g3 just to get it going.
i will post the result after i try to upgrade to 11.0.
there is a chance that this path will eliminate both our problems.:shame:
Thanks for your replay! I think I’ve a hardware problem with my iMac because it’s not possible to install openSUSE 11.0, openSUSE 10.3 or Mandriva 10.2. It’s the same problem on all distributions.
