Hello, today i have installed opensuse 12.3 and also upgraded to tumbleweed, but that is not the issue.
When i run steam i get: “OpenGL GLX context is not using direct rendering, which may cause performance problems.”
I also tryed Wow, but did only get a black screen with sound.
I installed the fglrx driver using the yast way. but also try’d the other ways. (and yes, i did change the repo of fglrx from 12.3 to TW.
this problem was an easy fix on other distro just by installing 32bit ati-utils but
mesa 32bit packages are also installed. so i have no clue what could be causing it:|
Its a Radeon 6650m.
a little help would be much apreciated from a new Opensuse user rotfl!

-=WELCOME=- new poster, but Tumbleweed is not a good choice for a
first day user of openSUSE (even with decades of experience in the
“other distro”)
if for no other reason than if you run Tumbleweed you must post
only to the Tumbleweed repo until it is known (for certain) that the
problem encountered is not Tumbleweed related…
please do not double post, instead click the triangular icon at the
bottom of this pane and ‘report’ the thread as needing to be moved by
a moderator…

i do not know what the “other distro” is but openSUSE has several
differences from all the other distros…many of those are mentioned
in http://tinyurl.com/ubuntu-to-openSUSE and/or http://tinyurl.com/Ubuntu-Differences, both of which can save you
some grief by avoiding common errors growing out of unfamiliarity…
Thanks for the answer! i knew it was not caused by tumbleweed because the problem occured before i upgraded. but it is solved now.
Somehow i missed the blacklist of the default radeon driver part, in the driver guide rotfl!
