I am having a problem with firefox that i can not figure out it was working fine yesterday now today the only page it will go to is the open suse main page I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it but still the same. I had to install opera to get onto the forums anyone have any idea what i can do to fix this thanks for your time.
Try this, close FF
Go to your home/user hidden files and look for .mozilla
re-name it to .mozilla-old
Start FF
don’t worry your settings etc are in the old folder
Tell me if it’s better
I have looked around and can not find a file named mozilla and I did check to show hidden files.
close FF
open a terminal and paste this
mv .mozilla .mozilla-old
that should do it
Check to see if you are in Work offline mode from the file menu.
Good idea but surely that’s like --obvious:P
Ok i did check to make sure offline use was unchecked and it was also tried the command you posted in a terminal now the only thing it does is go to the firefox home page and will not go anywhere else this is so strange any other suggestions thanks.
But this in the address bar
130.57.4.15
what happens
Sometimes the obvious is easiest to overlook. To OP try to start Firefox in a terminal session and report any errors.
Check FF - Preferences
Advanced - Network - Settings
Use system proxy settings
I had the exact same problem. I don’t know why it started happening but I was able to fix it by doing
mv .kde4 .kde4-old
You’ll lose all your settings.
Ok londys solution did work on fixing firefox and i thank everyone for there input on my problem it just stinks i had to resetup my desktop back to where i had it but hey im up and running.
.kde4 rename is a biggie
not my first recommendation
It resets all the desktop
try to avoid fiddling with things you don’t understand and you might avoid this in future
I can tell you from experience you dont learn anything from sitting around doing nothing I am glad he gave me the suggestion because my problem is solved as for you you were not any help so dont add your 2 cents if it isnt helping anyone thanks.
For someone who couldn’t even find their .mozilla folder, you show little respect for those more knowledgeable than you.
Well you basically called me stupid in a earlier post quote try to avoid fiddling with things you don’t understand and you might avoid this in future so what did you expect a parade. So you were a expert right out of the box when you first tried this right ???
You are getting me the wrong way friend. I’m sorry if it seemed like I was calling you stupid - I wasn’t.
No, I was no expert out of the box. I have picked up an enormous amount here in the forum. And we all never know it all by far, including me.
I leave you here, I hope in a less aggravated frame of mind over the help I offered.
