Problem with display resolution

Hello. I have some problems with display resolution in Suse 11 on sony vaio SZ notebook.
It is starting normally like this:

Then, when KDE is loaded, it looks like this

So as you can see, not whole screen is covered, although everything tuned correctly. Driver Intel, resolution 1280*800… Don’t know how to solve this problem, need your wise advice. =)

Try setting the vertical refresh to 65Hz instead of 60Hz - it worked for me.

Thank you for your help but nothing has changed. Now I set up refresh like this:

Horizontal: 30-52
Vertical: 50-65 (istead of 50-60)

My monitor is set up as 13,3" monitor, with 5/4 ratio.
Still need your help.

The symptom is a bit different but it could be an old problem playing up… have a look here : Gnome Using 1024 X 768 Instead Of 1280 X 800 - openSUSE Forums
…and the bit about RANDR mode set in /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager

Also, are the resolutions set correctly when you look in the Graphics Card & Monitors configuration?

Thank you for your help. Yes, resolution is set up correctly. LCD: 1280*800. I’ll try to follow the topic you gave.

Hi…

Did you solve this problem?

I have the same with VAIO VGN-TX770P

Any solution?

Hello. Not yet )))

I changed DISPLAYMANAGER_RANDR_MODE_auto=“1024x768_60 64.11 1024 1080 1184 1344 768 769 772 795 -HSync +Vsync”

to

DISPLAYMANAGER_RANDR_MODE_auto=“1280x800_60 64.11 1024 1080 1184 1344 768 769 772 795 -HSync +Vsync”

Same problem.

Only way out is to use windows xp, although I don’t want to…

I get the same sort of problem after my screensaver has been on for a while.

I wake it up and get my desktop squished into the corner.

Any luck solving your problem ?

I’ve just left my screensaver off which sucks for a laptop.

Hello veisong and others with display resolution troubles,

I know this thread is 2 years old,:stuck_out_tongue: so I assume you were able to fix or work around this problem with your displays. I am a Linux newbie and am having several similar issues with laptops at the office. How did you solve this? My guess is that it was a bug with old versions of KDE which got solved starting from KDE 4.3.x. Any feedback would be great.

Many thanks in advance!
