problem with dhcp addr in driver intstallation

I am trying to install a driver (rtl8187_linux_26.1010.0622.2006) for an awus036h wireless adapter on a clean install of openSUSE 10.3. The driver compiles with no warnings or errors. The problem comes at the last step of installation: dhclient wlan0. The error message is:

Can’t bind to dhcp address: Address already in use
Please make sure there is no other dhcp server
running and that there’s no entry for dhcp or
bootp in /etc/inetd.conf. Also make sure you
are not running HP JetAdmin software, which
includes a bootp server.

I don’t have a folder /etc/inet.conf, there is a folder /etc/xinet.d which has no entries for dhcp or bootp.
Assuming there is s dhcp server running with the same address, how do I find it? I have no printers installed so I assume that I am not running HP JetAdmin.

Thanks for any help. Skippy

The following commands cleared everything up:

ifconfig eth0 down
ifconfig eth1 down
ifcongig lo down
ifconfig wlan0 up
dhclient wlan0

Curious, since I deliberately unconfigured eth0 and eth1 in the initial installation. I had previously tried installing this adapted under Fedora8 (impossible) and Ububtu 8.04.1 (unstable) so I am giving a (tentative) “thumbs up” for openSUSE. skippy
