Problem with ATI Radeon X850XT free driver on OpenSUSE 11.3

Hello, All !

I have a problem with free ATI driver with Radeon X850XT 256Mb VRAM. I cant get 3d acceleration in OpenSUSE 11.3.
Please asist me in solving this problem.

System :
Linux lv426 2.6.34-12-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT 2010-06-29 02:39:08 +0200 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Here boot.msg :

<6> 5.847172] [drm] Loading R400 Microcode

Here is Xorg.0.log :

Problem have been solved.
I hve turned off and on my PC and now my radeon works fine. I am suspecting hardware mulfunction.

Can you paste the complete /var/log/Xorg.0.log on to http://pastebin.org and press submit on that site, and then take the webpage/URL/address it provides and post that address here?

Is this problem with, or without, the boot parameter “nomodeset” being applied in the grub menu ? Did you try this boot parameter in the grub menu ?

I didn’t try any parameters in the grub menu. Here is my grub entry :

kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.34-12-desktop root=/dev/mapper/sil_aibgeibgbdde_part1 resume=/dev/mapper/sil_aibgeibgbdde_part3 splash=silent showopts vga=0x31a
initrd /boot/initrd-2.6.34-12-desktop

I have turned off and on my PC and got my 3d acceleration working. I am suspecting video hardware mulfunction. I want to upgrade my video to RADEON HD5670. This will solve any problems with free drivers (stability, performance, etc).

Glad to read it appears to be working now. Sorry to read about the possibility of hardware malfunction.
