Problem: Problem with libsox3-14.4.2-1599.7.pm.137.x86_64 element installed
Solution 1: Install libsox3-14.4.2-5.29.x86_64 from the openSUSE provider* replacing Vendor’s libsox3-14.4.2-1599.7.pm.137.x86_64 http://packman.links2linux.de
Solution 2: Keep the libsox3-14.4.2-1599.7.pm.137.x86_64 element obsolete*

First, welcome to the openSUSE Forums.

You’re using Tumbleweed – I’m using Leap 15.4 …

The current “libsox3” package version here is: ‘14.4.2-bp154.1.100’ – from the main openSUSE Leap repository.

  • Which is more or less the same version as that which Tumbleweed is complaining about.
Both are version 14.4.2 with a build version difference …

I would simply keep the existing package which has presumably been installed from the main Tumbleweed repository.

  • If, the installed version has been retrieved from another repository – not the main Tumbleweed repository – then, please install the package version in the main Tumbleweed repository and, see if the issue disappears …

This can be done by putting LANG=C before a command. E.g.

LANG=C zypper dup

(This is BTW the best way to update Tumbleweed).

Merci

Here is the result of sudo LANG=C zypper dup

Problem: problem with the installed libsox3-14.4.2-1599.7.pm.137.x86_64

  • Solution 1: install libsox3-14.4.2-5.29.x86_64 from vendor openSUSE*
  • replacing libsox3-14.4.2-1599.7.pm.137.x86_64 from vendor http://packman.links2linux.de*
  • Solution 2: keep obsolete libsox3-14.4.2-1599.7.pm.137.x86_64*

Choose from above solutions by number or cancel [1/2/c/d/?] (c):

Choose “Solution 1:” – use the libsox3 version supplied by the vendor openSUSE.

Thank you for your help !

May I ask why? I was thinking of keeping the current package until Packman at some point in the future, would update their package.

Sox has been deleted from Packman 5 years ago.

If I installed OpenSUSE several months ago, any ideas how I ended up having sox installed from Packman since it’s deleted from there five years ago

Which openSUSE? There are multiple variants and verisons.

Ah, sorry, Opensuse TW

Also for Leap 15.4 –

  • There are still various bits and pieces of SOX available in the Packman (Essentials) repository.

Possibly, Packman changes seem to need more than a few years before they’re completely done …
