i can’t duplicate your problem here with my machine with its installed
software…i wonder why yours and mine is different???

maybe it is because our machines and software are different also…

you can see what i’m running, but no one here has a clue about you…why
not tell us and then maybe someone will have an idea how to help you…

and, while tell more also please show us (because i have a hunch about
the cause of your problem) the output of entering the following into a
terminal

zypper lr -d

and copy/paste the output back to this thread using the instructions

You need to put the cursor on the tab, right click your mouse and select “CLOSE TAB”.

sounds like you two have a bug in your soup, because here i just click
the red X to close a tab (i do not have to right click like taytong888
nor have grayed out Xs like kevingcfcb88)

so, i think you two should log a bug with the Chromium developers…

or maybe the Gnome developers (since it is cool with my KDE4.6.0, or
maybe you run 4.7.x and the bug is in KDE), or maybe you two are running
12.1 or tumbleweed and need to put a bugzilla here
http://tinyurl.com/nzhq7j

but no one can tell what it is different about your software/hardware
mix which is different from mine and causing the problem…

oh, maybe if you turn off desktop effects (like mine) it will work, then
you know how to write your bug.

Just checked and find I have the same problem but Ctrl-W closes each tab without any problems.

Why didn’t use chrome ?
I like it, It’s better than Chromium.

Other users already reported this issue in other threads. I don’t have it though - just double checked under KDE, Gnome and icewm, using both classic and GTK theme.
chromium-15.0.860.0-1.1.x86_64. chromium might not be the only culprit. Maybe it has problems with some theme under some desktop. (?)

I have 854 - looks like the answer is to upgrade.

The repo for chromium has changed: Chromium/Chrome: broken packages !! Do not update. - Page 5

The close tab button may be a flash object. Try to upgrade flash.

This was a problem for recent versions of chromium but the latest version (16.0.891.0-2.2.x86_64) has cured it.
