hello
i have a modem nokia 6120 classic but the open suse does not see`s it. i use this modem to connect ti intrenet. in Ubuntu i use the wvdial but here i can not edit the wvdial.conf to set my apn or modem.
when i login like the super user i can not see the contain of the folder /etc/ … is empty.
what seems to be the problem.
in ubuntu was like this:
If you know the correct device name, just use yast and add that modem. Also, add a provider while configuring it. Just type number to dial, user name, password etc. as whatever you want. When you come out of yast, it will install kinternet (a tool for connecting to the internet).
Now, just edit 2 files. (As root)
(1) /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-modem0
(2) /etc/sysconfig/network/providers/provider0
(I am assuming here that you don’t have other modems or providers configured. If that is the case, choose the appropriate files).
No need to edit wvdial.conf directly.
After this, run kinternet (as user) and it should appear in the system tray. Just right-click on that to see options to connect/disconnect/view log etc.
