Hi everyone,I use a brand new Lenovo G510 with intel i3 processor, 8GB ram, switchable intel 4600 and amd 8750 graphic card etc. and I have a problem when I want to install Opensuse 13.1 from DVD edition. I start the installation but in 1-2 minutes the screen go to black screen and dont respond to anything. I think is a trouble with videocard or something similar. In Bios settings I switch to UMA graphics, what I read in another forum but it dont work. In Bios is set the boot mode to legacy support and UEFI first. Please help me, thanks… Sorry for my bad English but i hope you understand what i want to say…
Is windows 8.1 present on this machine?
Switchable graphics will not help matters, but if you can use just the Intel that will be better for now.
Of greatest concern to me ATM is your existing OS and partition layout.
The partition layout is:
1: 1000MB fat32 primary
2: C:/ NTFS primary 97.6 GB
3: D:/ NTFS 734.2GB for data
4: Unallocated space *this is for opensuse 99,9GB
5: PBR_DRV Primary NTFS 1000MB
And yes the windows 8.1 pro os is present.
You really need someone that uses Windows and EFI, I don’t.
But I do know the partitions are critical and you should be in EFI mode too.
Have you tried the live DVD of either kde or gnome?
From there we can get more detailed and accurate partition info than you supplied.
Yes I try with live gnome and kde 64bit on an usb stick but booting stops with error message: cannot find the mbr partition or something like this and reboots. I tried an Ubuntu 14.04 64bit usb install with succes but i don’t like to use Ubuntu. I used before, for 2-3 years and when appears the new unity look i switch back to windows but I also try opensuse 10 and 11 with another system and I like it. And I like to Use with windows 8.1 pro I know that is not impossible,so Now I take a little break and I will try again 
I found a fix in a forum for the black screen problem, I set the brightness of the monitor back to normal because there is a command in the setup script to set
brightness to zero.
I think the problem is with the gpt and mbr conflict and I hope I will fix it with a new installation of windows…

You will need to boot the DVD in UEFI mode.
The first screen should be a menu. Move the cursor to select “Install” line. Then hit the ‘e’ key. That should allow you to edit the boot command line.
Scroll down until you find a “linux” line. It will actually be “linuxefi”.
Scroll to the end of that line, and append “nomodeset” (without the quotes).
Then continue with boot. The notation on the screen should tell you which key does this.
That should get you into the installer. The graphics quality won’t be good, but you can add Nvidia drivers later (after the install).
