Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller

These devices should just work

But it isn’t for you
Take a look at this, there is a Intel section
http://forums.opensuse.org/english/information-new-users/advanced-how-faq-read-only/438705-opensuse-graphic-card-practical-theory-guide-users.html

But I suggest you may need to start a thread focusing on graphics issue to get more help focused on your issue

I’m reluctant to recommend anything here due to this being gnome3. When 12.1 was first released there were many stories of gnome3 loggin problems, and I don’t know if this is a gnome3 login problem or a graphic problem.

When your screen blanks have you tried closing and opening the laptop? My Acer screen would turn on when I did that. If that works try using sysconfig editor to add acpi_backlight=vendor to default vga.
