Hi, I’ve ben using OpenSUSE since November n I’m lovin it!! I’ve also got completely rid of Vista from my system as it irritated me with a virus!!
So I run Windows through VirtualBox now!!
Well, my problem is that I inserted one of my SD cards and I could read the data on it for a while…but when I tried copying data from it…it was suddenly unreadable according to SUSE…
After that, whenever I insert my card…just 4 files with weird filenames are shown!! And the surprising part is linux detects that the overall size of the 4 files as 7.9GB even tho the card is just 4GB…the filenames are comprised of wierd symbols…
For your info…I’m talkin bout a 4GB SanDisk microSDHC card.
Its not a problem with my card reader or the card…I’m sure bout it!! The card read fine on my friend’s Windows based PC…
I dont hav an idea how to post screenshots over here…if u guys could tell me how, I’d post a couple of shots!
And my internal bluetooh of my Toshiba Satellite A100 isn’t detected!! What to do?? I tried everything I could!! Don’t tell me to switch it on through windows coz as I said before I dont have Windows installed and dont want to take the pain of installing it again!! Please help!! I’m running OpenSUSE 11.1 Gnome
I’m just startin to get used to linux…learnt many new stuff!! Itz an excitin journey…hope I dont have to install windows again!!Its been a month since I’m on OpenSUSE
Hi
Not sure about the SD card, sounds like it is corrupted somehow. Can
you do a filesystem check on it with it unmounted? To check which one
run the df -k command to see the mmc device name for example
df -k |grep mmc
/dev/mmcblk0p1 991616 3440 988176 1% /media/disk-4
sudo umount /dev/mmcblk0p1
sudo /sbin/fsck -t vfat /dev/mmcblk0p1
fsck 1.41.1 (01-Sep-2008)
dosfsck 2.11, 12 Mar 2005, FAT32, LFN
/dev/mmcblk0p1: 7 files, 215/61976 clusters
[/CODDE]
For the bluetooth, can you check if you running toshiba_acpi, from the
console/konsole and your kernel version;
lsmod |grep tosh
uname -a
and post the output of both commands. I have pre-built modules with a
bluetooth patch toshiba_acpi for some kernels on the build service, so
may need to add for your system.
You could also check via dmesg command to make sure your bluetooth is
being recognized.

Hi
Hmmm, not sure about the card… So you can read/write to ok on
another windows machine? If so can you backup the data, then on the
linux machine re-format (WITH CAUTION) it via the YaST partitioner?
So is the toshiba_acpi module listed (lsmod | grep toshiba)? Also what
about the output from the following commands;
hwinfo --bluetooth
ls /proc/acpi/toshiba/

Hi
No, it just may mean your system isn’t using it, what about the command
hciconfig, any output? I’m also assuming the bluetooth is built-in?
What is the output from;
lsmod |grep bt

Well, no output for hciconfig
no output for lsmod |grep bt either…
But for lsmod |grep bluetooth, I got the following output
bluetooth 54100 6 sco,bnep,rfcomm,l2cap
If the Toshiba acpi is installed afterall, how to I enable it??

Hi
The module is already available for 11.1 as a kernel module. So you
could try installing that it’s called omnibook-kmp-pae

Wow!! A Bluetooth icon appeared in my panel…
and it detected my phone!!
I had googled a lot before regarding this problem but in vain.
Thanx a million!! I couldnt hav done this without you…you r a genious!! I dont hav to install Windows anymore… lol!
Is there a way to backup these settings so that I dont have to start all over incase I happen to re-install or anythin??
I really hope the original poster gets through… this has been a little nightmare for me but I got it working :).
Just a comment to enrich what Malcolm has been writing and in the hope that everything will turn just right.
Modprobing omnibook will not make bluetooth startup automatically, there is still the need of a “startup script” So I hope there is a way to integrate Malcolm’s “bt-adaptor” with omnibook. In the meantime I’m using my own script (same as the one in ubuntuforums)
Good luck and kind regards
Luis
PS. @Satish… don’t get desperate… you are only taking a few hours to solve this… It took me years (2) of trial and error until yesterday to get it going.
EDIT: I just read that you have solved it… Excellent!!!
