I opened Konqueror in super user mode and then extracted a file using “Ark”. It worked. I then tried to do the same for another file and it now gives the error:
KDEInit could not launch '/usr/bin/ark’
NOTE: I found this online: KDEinit could not launch ‘yourapp’ - linux-noob.com/forums which says to type in Konsole:
xhost +local:0
This fixes the problem! Why?
What you typed is for alowing others to open windows on your display.
I supose that is because root (thus not the user that owns the display) wants to open a window with the apllication in it. X has security. See also man xhost.
