I suspect this is a kde problem but someone here may have some advise.
I did a one-click install of kde 4.4RC1 from the openSUSE factory repos. No errors were displayed (other than dependency ones) during or after the install.
However, now when I try to open a file requiring another program (i.e. a pdf file & xpdf) it does nothing. This is in a file manager (tried both krusader and dolphin). When I right click on a file and try to âopen withâ and select the correct program, it still does nothing, no messages or bouncing balls.
There are also no appropriate error messages in /var/logs/* when I searched it.
Iâve checked the âConfigure Desktop > Advanced > File Associationsâ but they all look proper and show the programs I want.
The files all run with the associated programs when opened from CLI.
The only message I got after install (in yast) was âdid not install sshâ which should not affect this problem anyway.
Spoke too soon. Problem is back again in a different way. Now I canât open root mode programs (krusader & dolphin). Can launch them from terminal as root but not as user from the start menu icons. Just get the bouncing balls but no message or action.
By the way, the image viewer is gwenview which worked prior to the original problem and is working again now.
Are you telling me that when you click a http link to a image it starts gwenview? That would be very strange.
As for the dolphin and krusader root modes - Itâs possible you have more than a few complications as a result of that repo list, I canât really tell what you have installed form where. If you look at Yast - Software Management, filter by repository and select the âsystemâ and scroll the list, do you see many red versions?
