I am trying to install 12.1 in my 3850 and after choosing install at the first screen, the monitor goes in to sleep mode. When i connect a graphic card on the motherboard and by-pass the 6550D of the cpu everything is fine.
How can i solve it?

Maybe you could try a text mode install instead. I’m not sure if the HD 6550D is supported by the open source driver yet. Otherwise, consider installing with the onboard graphics first. Then you can re-enable your 6550D, and try booting in failsafe mode. From there, it may be possible to install the proprietary driver.

The text mode didn’t work. I tried failsafe and installed ATI Catalyst™ Proprietary Display Driver . The fglrx drivers were crashing. Also the proprietary need improvement.
