Problem connecting to a software source

In a last few days i recieved this message on splash screen on startup

Problem connecting to a software source

There was a(possibly temporary) problem connecting to a software source.
Please check the detailed error for further details

When i click on **Details **a new window appear with this message

Download (curl) error for ‘http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Emulators/openSUSE_11.4/repodata/repomd.xml’:
Error code: Connection failed
Error message: Couldn’t resolve proxy 'HTTP_PROXY’

Excep this no other warning messages appeared, everything work OK, downloads, updates, torrents, etc.
This message do not appear again, until next startup.

What this mean and what to do to remove this messages?

I guess you have that Emulator repo added to your repo list (either using YaST or zypper).
The file *http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Emulators/openSUSE_11.4/repodata/repomd.xml *exists, I can reach it. Are you behind a proxy?

It still does not explain why some software is trying to go there.
What do you mean with startup? As you talk about a window popping up, I guess you are allready loged in then. It could be Kpackagekit. But you do not tell what openSUSE level you use (well, 11.4 can be guessed froim the fact that the error is about an 11.4 repo), nor what desktop (KDE, Gnome, Other). When you have the Kpackagekit applet active, switch it off and see if the error goes away.

i guess so also…

@glock356, please show us the output of entering the following into a
terminal

zypper lr -d

and copy/paste the output back to this thread using the instructions

Sory, english is not my language and i do my best to write correctly.
Yes, this message appear when i am logged.
I am using openSUSE11.4 originaly installed with GNOME.
Later i added KDE, but rarely used it, it is too slow on my hardware.

open YaST, give password when asked, then go Software > Software
Repositories, then click on these repos 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9
(using the list above to see the name of the repo) and once
highlighted single left both the “Enabled” and “Automatically Refresh”
boxes to REMOVE the X from the box, and then click to highlight the next
listed repo… when you have finished repo 9 do NOT click the “OK”
button yet!

then, highlight these repos 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14 and single left click
the “Automatically Refresh” boxes to REMOVE the X from the box…when
you have finished with 14 then if you look at the top window you will
see that have four repos enabled (oss, non-oss, update and packman), and
only two refreshing (update and packman)…

if that is what you see then, click the “OK” button…

next time you boot you should not have that problem you reported in your
first post…

but, if you do then give us another look at the output of # zypper lr -d

also, to understand why i tell you to do the above, read at least the
paragraph which begins with “IMPORTANT” in this posting
http://tinyurl.com/33qc9vu

and everytime you use a 1-Click install you must either tell it to not
keep the repo enabled, or again open Software > Software Repositories
and disable and turn off the refreshing of the just used repo…by the
way, though that IMPORTANT paragraph says when you have enough
experience you may move away from only those four repos, i still do it
exactly the way written there…i personally always have only four
repos enabled…except for the limited time i need others for a
specific and limited purpose…

but, i like stable, dependable, reliable, predictable…
