When I open up k3b, a message box pops up saying I need a Mad codec library or something. I searched everywhere in install software, and nothing worked. I found the mad codec library thing on some site, but it’s .tar.gz format, so i have no idea how to install it. (im used to the GUI :P).
I recommend using Packman as it contains the k3b-codecs regardles if it is the new KDE 4 version (Alpha but highly usable now) or the old KDE 3 version.
I’m trying to find the codecs or w/e to burn music CDs o.0
here is the exact message I get:
Mp3 Audio Decoder plugin not found.
K3b could not load or find the Mp3 decoder plugin. This means that you will not be able to create Audio CDs from Mp3 files. Many Linux distributions do not include Mp3 support for legal reasons.
Solution: To enable Mp3 support, please install the MAD Mp3 decoding library as well as the K3b MAD Mp3 decoder plugin (the latter may already be installed but not functional due to the missing libmad). Some distributions allow installation of Mp3 support via an online update tool (i.e. SuSE’s YOU).
When you’ll type k3b to the search window packman will have k3b and k3b-codecs packages and kde4-k3b and kde4-k3b-codecs. Install the codecs package accordingly to your installed k3b package.
You need to disable your DVD in the repository list. Open up Yast and click Software Repositories. Then find the repository that points to your cd or dvd drive and disable it. That will let you use the one from packman instead of the one from the dvd.
