I tried to install opensuse on my asus laptop.
but didn’t get it to work.
when i load open suse in grub it wont start but the recovery opensuse starts without a problem. http://i59.tinypic.com/jrfxvd.jpg
this shows when i start up but it then hangs up in the green screen start image of opensuse.
in the terminal i see this repeating : bug :unscheddeling while atomic: swapper
On the boot command line, hit ‘e’ to edit the menu entry.
Scroll down until you find a line that begins “linux” (or maybe “linuxefi”).
Append " nomodeset" to the end of that line (without the quotes).
Continue booting (the keystroke for this will be indicated on the screen).
That should get you up and running, though with inferior graphics.
Once you can get that far, install the nvidia graphics driver for your card. Then reboot and all should be fine.
Hmm, I have assumed that you are using opensuse 13.2 and grub2 as the boot loader. However, if you installed 13.1, it is possible that you used legacy grub in which case editing the kernel command line is a little different (though easier and you can probably work out for yourself).
I think there’s an opensuse wiki page on installing the nvidia driver.
