problem 64 bit?

Hello

I have installed all the games that OpenSuse 11.1 64-bit bootdisc included and some games don’t run, and likely I can’t find them in the menu, just If I open /usr/games folder.

for example Tuxracer

and I downloaded other game, Alienarena 2008 and It doesn’t run either.

is the problem that I have 64-bit OpenSuse, or should I install other libraries and 32 bit parts to?

???

thx

have you tried running them from a console and see if there are any errors
reported when it tries to start, if so then post the messages here and we
will see what we can do.

FYI alienarena works fine here on 64bit, could be your configs ( graphics
etc…)

here is the error message

“crx” not found, “/bin/bash” runs instead check your profile setup

and another error message in console mode:

./crx: error while loading shared libraries: libcurl.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

thanks

On this page, click Get Software, then click Software Search, search for curl3 and use the one-click installer (which need multiple clicks but that’s another story).
From experience: there are some games that don’t run, but most of them do !!

Also try Urban Terror and World of Goo !!!

same problem again

error msg:
./crx: error while loading shared libraries: libcurl.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

another error message after curl3 and run CRX here

What hardware have you got there, graphics card?

If It is Nvidia, ATI or Intel have you installed any drivers for it and have
you got 3D accel working?

Mark,

I have ATI Radeon HD 3200 and Sax2 see it to that
I have not installed any special driver…

There’s the problem. 3D wouldn’t work on any other OS without the driver. Please refer to the numerous posts on how to install the ATI-driver

if you have not installed any specific driver then you are probably running
on the open source one which does not support 3D accel hence your prob.

before you go any further may I suggest you have a look in the hardware and
hardware.64bit groups also read the stickys, the reason I say this is that
you will then understand a few things about installing the correct drivers.

It is not that it is difficult but you will get an idea of what is involved.

If you wish to install then on the first method would be to try the one-
click method, instructions here:

http://en.opensuse.org/Ati

I personally do it the “Hard Way” ™, have been for years with Nvidia and
ATI so old habits die hard plus I have the added bonus of trying/using the
latest from ATI/AMD before they hit the SuSE site which can be a while after
official release

It is not as daunting as it looks and you can always fix it without a re-
install.

If you have any probs or want more info then start a thread in the 64bit
hardware group someone if not me will give ya a hand.
