Printing - HP Deskjet D1520

Hey everyone,

I’ve been trying to set up my printer all day. Coming from Mint, I’m familiar with Debian-based distros and that’s about it. I do know that this printer works flawlessly under Linux, as I’ve been using it for months. It seems I should be able to use YaST to install my printer rather easily, but unless I’m missing something it hasn’t been very simple. I’ve tried to just download a driver but that didn’t work. I tried to use HP’s hplip software to install the driver, but that didn’t work either (tells me I don’t have the gcc dependency, but gcc is installed).

Anyone had any luck or can point me to a good source of information about this (not linuxprinting.org please, I find that website to be of little to no use).

Thanks,
Kaye

Go to the start menu and in the search box type: HP
Do you get the HP Toolbox? Have you tried it?

It wasn’t installed - is it normally default? I didn’t realize hplip was in the repos though. The HP installer didn’t pick anything up, but I was able to get everything sorted through the CUPS web interface.

Thanks for the help!

I nearly suggested CUPS. I use this by preference in my Fedora Box.
