Printers not working all of the sudden. CUPS issue?

I have the following printers:
Epson Workforce Pro WF-8590
HP OfficeJet Pro 7720
Epson XP 4200
All of the sudden none of the printers work. The workforce received the info and just hangs with the light blinking. The XP 4200 and the HP just print pages and pages of nonsense.
Since the this behavior happened all at the same time I know it is a software issue. I tried restarting both printer sand PC and the behavior continues.
If I print from my phone, all printers work fine.
Please advise on how to troubleshoot
Leap 15.6
Cups 2.2.7-150000.3.65.1

Please post:
zypper lr -d
Is this an upgraded System from Leap 15.5 to Leap 15.6?

No. clean install

You have enabled Repos, but the refresh is disabled…

You have installed the drivers for the printers?
Maybe also the plugins?

yes. these printers were working perfectly since I updated to leap 15.6
It just started this behavior last Friday.

Have you made an Update at that time?

grep 2025-06-06 /var/log/zypp/history

or maybe a day before:
grep 2025-06-05 /var/log/zypp/history

Nothing comes up. But I might have done it before and did not try to print until then. I tried installing a previous version of CUPS but it creates a bunch of dependency issues and I don´t know how to downgrade all the necessary packages at once.

Then try this:

grep 2025-06 /var/log/zypp/history

Got it solved. re installed the Epson drivers. not sure why they all got corrupted.
Now I just got to figure out a solution for the HP

Let’s see if we can better understand the issue at hand here.

  1. Share the output from
    lpstat -t
    sudo systemctl status cups

  2. Can you print a test page (to any printer) ok?

  3. For debugging purposes:

Clear the existing (often lengthy) error log with…
sudo rm -f /var/log/cups/error_log
and put cupsd into debugging mode for more verbose output…
sudo cupsctl --debug-logging
Try sending a print job eg a pdf or text file…
lpr -P <printer_name> /path/to/pdf
Examine the error_log file for filter-related output. For example…
egrep -iA2 "filter|error" /var/log/cups/error_log
Report back.

Thanks for the update. Probably the same deal with the HP.
