Printer Woes (HP 2200dt)

Hi,

Getting very frustrated here. I have the printer set up through Yast. Its an HP2200dt with dual letter sized trays, and duplexing. I enter Yast, set the defaults (sometimes I can’t even set the defaults because the tabs are locked), exit Yast, and they default back to A4 size paper, 1 tray, no duplexing. Its getting impossible to get any work done here.

Settings are Tray 3 installed, Tray 1 manual, duplexing, Flip on Long Edge for 2 sided printing. I have set these things over and over. Sometimes they reset, sometimes they don’t reset but the printer seems to ignore them.

The driver is the recommended postscript driver (PPD/hp/HP_Laserjet_2200.ppd.gz)

Any ideas?

Hi
Try using the hp-setup (need to be root user) rather than YaST.

gnomesu /usr/bin/hp-setup
or
kdesu /usr/bin/hp-setup

Doesn’t work for me - no such file.

Hi
Sounds like hplip isn’t installed then, install that and try again

Well, I installed it, but I think I’ve realized that the print driver is working OK, its just that the mail program I’m using, Thunderbird, for some reason, only prints one way in Linux. I’ll try to pursue it on their board.

Thanks for your help.
