Print job prints a page then 30-60 seconds goes by until next page prints. lpstat says job waiting to finish. A cups restart corrects problem. Any idea of the cause?

You provided very few information 
What “printer”, what “driver” and what “kind of job” are you printing? This
does happen always? And what the cups logs are saying?
For instance, I also have problems when printing pages with lots of
graphics, using postscript driver and set a resolution of 600ppp. Printer
stops, it’s very slow or even fails to print at all.
All this using an ethernet laserjet 4050 with 32 MB of ram.
