Printer doesn't print, but notification says printing has completed

I’ve got a fresh install of Leap 15.3 with Gnome. I’ve tried to print a pdf file, so I connected the printer with USB, and I believe the driver setup ran automatically. I’ve clicked print, and got the notification “printing in progress”, and the printer also started the heating up process. However, nothing else happened. Then I got the notification that printing is complete, and there are no jobs left. However, no paper came out of the printer. I’ve tested the printer using other OSs, like Ubuntu, Zorin and Windows as well, all worked fine, so it’s probably a driver setup error.

The printer is a Samsung SCX-4623F, and the only driver I’ve found was called something like “universal driver”, which I’ve tried to install manually, but the outcome was the same.

Anyone has any tips or suggestions setting up this printer? I’m not new to linux, but it has been a very long time since I had to set up printer drivers manually, as I’ve mostly worked with Ubuntu or Ubuntu based OSs lately.

Maybe first have a look at yast or the gnome-printing tool to see if your printer is really configured?

Okay, I feel like an idiot now hahaha

I just checked YaST, and it said the installed driver was an HP driver. I’ve used the search function and it found the correct driver, installed it and now it works… I wonder why the automatic setup installed a random driver, but it might’ve been me accidentally clicking the wrong one.

Anyways, it’s working now, thanks for the help!

You get the Samsung driver since 2017 from HP…
