Printer/Cups/Remote Printing

My install was all set and running fine to access the printer attached to my main server.
Suddenly no printer and config isn’t even possible now with cups seeming completely inaccessible

I see some updates (including cups) today, and have started working on them, though there is some crazy dependency error with a perl package. Have to go off to work, so will check again later.
Had to use my 13.2 install yesterday to print stuff
Frustration !

Had to use zypper to upgrade as yast UI was crashing out when trying to resolve conflicts.

To add to the mystery, although now I have no configured printers, or at least that I can tell given the bug laden situation of anything printing related, I did manage to find something interesting.

If I open up a .pdf I can print it
But LO docs just offer a ‘generic printer’ and obviously don’t print.

All this with KDE showing no printer and the term ‘Bad File Descriptor’
Yast > Hardware > Printer just completely freaks out with CUPS errors all over the place.

By way of some additional info. LO was just updated to v.5
But I can’t put the failure to offer printing down to that, though it’s worth noting.

Carl,
One of my goofs with TW was with perl updates while mine were with the audio not the printer it did cause all manner of problems until the perl part of it updated.
So the latest zypper dup done at 9PM my time (USA CDT) had a lot of perl stuff in it as well as kernel 4.1.6-2 perhaps your problems lie there?
