i have an HP photosmart c5500 printer. when i set it up there was no model c5500 to choose from in the configuration process. so i chose 7100 as a guess. the printer seems to be working ok except when it’s done printing something the light continues to flash for quite some time and the screen says ‘now printing’ even tho i’ts done. i installed CUPS and th ‘hpij…’ drivers, etc. is everything ok here or did i do something wrong? is there a ‘c5500’ model available? i am newbie and appreciate all help!!

installed opensuse 11.0 on dell xps410 machine.

p.s. anybody know why command ‘lsusb’ not available?

Because you are not root?

For your printer there should be a ppd file somewhere. Your printer is supported since hplib 2.8.7. See here http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/release_notes.html

solved printer problem by going to hp web site and downloaded and installed hplip. all is ok now.
lsusb… i signed in as root but still no lsusb command.

you have to download ‘lsusbutils’ to use ‘lsusb’ command…
