I wonder if they will do it.
Ron
Absolutely, along about the time GM is released, the announcement will appear on the forum. I’ll try to be 1st in line;)
It takes a week to 10 days after GM for the Novell/SuSE Team to put the finishing touches on it; print the manual(s), etc. (boxed version).
Thanks Snake,
I’ll too order it asap.
Ron
Hmm… out of curiosity… how much will it cost?
EDIT: Also… why is it worth buying it if it’s free?
To help support the linux community. To have a good quality copy of the OS.
Probably in the $59 range.
Last time (as I recall), 1 DVD with both i386 & x86-64 and needed proprietary drivers, all the openSUSE source code, a startup manual (which is fairly detailed) and 90 days support for install problems.
Many of us like to buy the boxed version as our way of supporting Novell/Suse and keep the pay checks for the engineers rolling so they continue to support the openSuSE project, kernel development and many other important open source projects. That won’t continue to happen if we don’t support them along the way.
Have fun:)
How about suse linux enterprise desktop 11 (SLED 11)?
can it be pre-ordered as well? when?
I’m more interested in the corporate release for its stability.
Thanks for your replies.

SLED11 & SLES11 are presently in Beta 5 along with 11.1 and will march right on along with the 11.1 schedule. While we can expect openSUSE 11.1 public release on Thu, Dec 18, SLED11 & SLES11 will undergo far more testing to make it the stable product you would expect.
I can find no official SLED11 & SLES11 roadmap, so guessing, I would say 3 to 4 months after 11.1 GM which puts it in early spring.
Surely there will be a pre-order site; just listen to the chatter when 11.1 hits the street.
Have fun:)
