Guys
Id like to load a preload ISO onto a disk on a desktop with two existing partitions. One is a data partition, another has Win7 installed, then there is the free space. I understand the Pre load is for a fresh installation but could I iso buster the file and take out what i need to install without having to download again?
Thanks

i am not certain i understand your post, so i make two assumptions:
-you have the iso of an openSUSE 11.4 install disk downloaded to your
win7 desktop…
-your question is: can you open the iso and copy the needed parts of it
into the free space remaining in the Win7 partition…
if my assumptions are correct, the answer is:
no, openSUSE is not an application (like say Office or Tron) which can
be self copied into an existing Window file system, and then double
click something to make it run…
instead, openSUSE is a complete operating system (kinda like windows by
less fragile and prone to viruses) which must be installed by the
installation program contained in the iso…there are several ways to do
that, but the most convinient way is to burn the iso to a disk (CD or
DVD, depending on which you downloaded) and then shutdown window and
boot from the install disk
then, the install program on the disk will shrink the Windows
partition and build three new partitions formatted into a Linux file
system and then go on to install the operating system…
there are a lot of steps involved and let me strongly encourage you to
BACK UP all the data you don’t wish to risk prior to beginning…and,
read all the available information on how to prepare for and install the
openSUSE operating system, for example:
-
read the information on the download page, especially the parts
-Verify your download (do NOT consider it optional)
-How to Proceed -
read and follow the applicable advice given in these how-tos made
especially for folks new to openSUSE
http://doc.opensuse.org/products/opensuse/openSUSE/opensuse-reference/cha.inst.html
its a lot more than just installing a word processor or game, but
thousands do it every day…
-=welcome=- if you have more questions just ask…
