pppoe connection dropps every 2 minutes

hai all.
i am presently using opensuse 11.
i use a pppoe connection for internet.for some strange reasons the connection drops every 2 minutes.i have to disconnect it and reconnect it again.i had opensuse 10.2 until recently.i had no problems what so ever with it.any suggestions for this problem???

Yes, but are you hard wired or wireless?

It’s not likely that you use pppoe that is the issue, but more likely a hardware issue
NIC? ADSL/CABLE Router? etc…?

i use a adsl modem connected to ethernet card by cable…

i have a dual boot system.the connection is fine in the other os(windows xp).i am getting this problem only in opensuse 11

Check the log file /var/log/messages for entries around the time the
connection drops and you reconnect.

i checked the log…
there are no errors between the time i start and stop the connection.i guess there is some problem with kde 4 cause i have changed to xfce and i have no problems now with the connection.

Hmmm, strange.

Glad you got it fixed. You might try kde3.5 if you desire the kde interface.
kde4 is still a bit experimental yet, and some things just don’t work well
yet. Soon!

yeap…i see a lot of glitches using kde 4.i did not install kde 3.5 during installation…and desktop environment is not my primary requirement and so using xfce for now.thanks for the responses …
